My sweet little niece turns one on Sunday and here’s the card we’ll be sending her.

Baby-Birthday---yla

I made my own roll of tickets by cutting a piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock 7/8″ x 4-3/4″. I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the sentiment three times and then used a 1/4″ circle punch (retired) to punch the little half circles in between the tickets

Stamps: Label Love, That’s the Ticket

Paper: Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette (DSP and cardstock), Silver Glimmer

Ink: Wisteria Wonder, VerasMark

Accessories: Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder, Big Shot, 1/4″ Circle Punch (retired), Artisan Label Punch, 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4″ Circle Punch, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Whisper White Embossing Powder, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Tea Lace Paper Doilies, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Mr-and-Mrs-YLA

Here are the Mr. and Mrs. signs that coordinate with my previous post. They measure 5-1/2″x5-1/2″. The font used is Edwardian Script ITC with a size of 160. I printed the sentiment on copy paper first, die cut Whisper White cardstock with the Top Note die and centered this piece over the copy paper print-out. I used a bright light so that I could see through the cardstock to the print-out underneath. I adhered the top note piece to the copy paper with just a little bit of adhesive — not too much so that I could easily remove it from the copy paper once I ran it through the printer.

Here’s a closer look — there are rhinestones at the tips of the “M”.

After taking these pictures, I still felt like the card was missing something and ended up adding a hatpin with pearls and beads strung on it. I stuck it through the bow and it ended up being the perfect touch. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to take a picture of them so you’ll have to use your imagination. 😉

Stamps: En Francais

Ink: Tangerine Tango

Accessories: Sycamore Street Tangerine Tango Ribbon (SAB 2013 retired), Top Note Die, Big Shot, Rhinestones, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Please-Sign-Our-Wedding-Pla

A co-worker of mine is getting married this month and asked me to make a sign to place next to a plate the guests will sign in lieu of a guest book. Her colors are black with orange/yellow fall colors. The sign measures 5″x7″. I printed the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock using the font Edwardian Script ITC size 44. The flowers were created by stamping the bold, solid stamp in full-strength Tangerine Tango ink and then stamping the highlight stamp in Real Red ink. I stamped the highlight stamp again in VersaMark ink and embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder for some shimmer. I still need to make Mr. & Mrs. cards for the table they’ll be sitting at during the reception and will post those as soon as they’re done. Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Stippled Blossoms

Simply-Sketched-Yvette-Ashe

It’s been a very long time since I’ve water colored anything. The Simply Sketched set is perfect for that! I colored the flowers with an Aqua Painter and reinker inks by first applying a light wash of Crisp Cantaloupe with touches of Calypso Coral. I used just a little bit of Real Red to accent darker areas in the flowers. So Saffron was used to accent the background. The sentiment was stamped in Always Artichoke. I was completely inspired by the Venetian Romance paper — love it! 🙂

Stamps: Simply Sketched, Express Yourself

Paper: Pistachio Pudding, Venetian Romance DSP, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper

Ink: Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Real Red, So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Black StazOn

Secret-Garden-Birthday-YLA

It’s my daughter’s birthday tomorrow and this is the card we’ll be giving her. I really like the treat box sample on page 95 in the new catalog and used it as inspiration. I love the bright colors and the overall layout of the sample — I just added some glitter to my card (I think most girls love a little glitter ;)) and a different sentiment.

Happy-Anniversary-2013-YLA

My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary tomorrow and here’s the card I’ll be giving him. I wanted to use the Epic Day This and That paper and was drawn to the subtle colors of this particular sheet of paper — I love the mix of Pool Party, Gumball Green and Basic Gray. I created the heart by using the scalloped heart die in the Hearts a Flutter Framelits set. The polka-dotted heart is the second-to-smallest heart in the Hearts Collection Framelits set and the small, floral heart is the smallest die in the same set. The smallest heart was die cut out of Smoky Slate cardstock and was stamped in Smoky Slate ink with the floral hexagon in the Six-Sided Sampler set.

Stamps: Six-Sided Sampler, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper: Pool Party, Epic Day This and That DSP, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray

Ink: Smoky Slate, Basic Gray

Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Hearts a Flutter Framelits Die, Hearts Collection Framelits Dies, Silver Mini Brads, Rhinestone, Pool Party Satin Ribbon (retired), Paper Piercing Tool and Mat

50th-Wedding-Anniversary-YL

50th wedding anniversary card for my husband’s aunt and uncle. I used my daughter’s birthday card from last year (found here) as inspiration. It’s very difficult to work with only two colors on a card — I kept wanting to add a splash of color on the butterfly and the flower. In the end, though, I think just using the gold embossing powder with the vanilla background worked well and it kept with the golden anniversary theme.

I created the flower by punching seven scallops out of Very Vanilla cardstock with the  7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch. One at a time, I placed a scallop in the palm of my hand and lightly spritzed it with water and crumpled it into a ball. After crumpling all seven, I carefully opened them up, stacked them all together and punched a hole in the center using a paper piercing tool and mat. I then attached the Antique Brad and shaped the petals. Once the piece was dry, I gently pressed just the edges of the flower onto a VersaMark ink pad, then dipped the edges in gold embossing powder and embossed it. I was initially going to use SU!’s Brushed Gold cardstock for the numbers, but it didn’t quite match the gold embossing, so to create the letters I did the following: 1. Pressed a VersaMark ink pad on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock 2. Applied gold embossing powder and heat set it 3. Die cut this embossed piece using the 5 and 0 from the Typeset Alphabet Bigz die.

So everything’s all matchy-matchy, which makes me happy-happy. 🙂 Now to send this off to California without squashing it! Does anyone have any suggestions for mailing bulky cards? I am tempted to send it in a plain old shoe box! 😉

P.S. I’m working with a new camera and ended up taking this photo in landscape rather than portrait — if it’s too small to see, please click on the photo for a closer look.

For today’s card, I was inspired by yet another sample in the catalog — I changed mine up a bit by adding some ribbon and using a different sentiment and accents. I do love these colors together! I created the background by embossing a piece of Whisper White cardstock (3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″) with the Stripes embossing folder. I cut seven strips of Gumball Green cardstock (3/16″ x 4-1/2″) and glued them in the “valleys” of the embossed piece. The polka-dotted piece layered behind the sentiment is a stamp from the Layered Labels set. I stamped the image in Early Espresso ink, die cut it with the coordinating Apothecary Accents framelits die and cut it in half and attached one piece at the top and one at the bottom.

Here’s a masculine birthday card using the Blue Ribbon stamp set, as well as the new Soho Subway paper. To create the medallion, I cut a strip of Soho Subway paper 1-3/8″ x 12″ and then scored it every 1/4 inch. I also ran a VersaMark ink pad along one edge of this piece, applied Early Espresso embossing powder and heat set it.
