Birthday Wishes in Blue and Brown

Birthday card for a friend who likes blue and brown together. The scalloped border around the oval was made using the Scallop Edge Border Punch — punch a long strip of Old Olive cardstock and then trim it about 1/4″ away from the punched edge, apply adhesive to the back of the oval and then carefully attach the scalloped piece to the back of the oval shape by gently shaping it around the curved edge. I’ll let you in on a little secret — the scallops did not end up matching at the end so I hid the irregular edge with those buttons. 🙂

Control Freaks Blog Tour – Spring Into Spring!

Welcome to the March Control Freaks Blog Tour! Our theme this month is celebrating spring. If you’re following the blog tour lineup, you’ve just come from the very talented Jan Tinklenberg’s blog.

PROJECT #1 – Happy Easter Tulip Card

I think tulips are so beautiful, especially when they have that peachy-red two-toned color. The petals on my tulips were created using the largest petal on the Blossom Petal Builder Punch. I trimmed off the scalloped edge of each petal to create the smooth-edged petals. The petals were punched from Peach Parfait textured cardstock, liberally sponged with Riding Hood Red ink, and then the edges were sponged with just a hint of Cherry Cobbler ink. The stems and leaves were cut free-hand out of Pear Pizzazz cardstock (don’t look too closely!) 🙂 and then sponged with Garden Green ink.

PROJECT #2 – Easter Bunny Mini Mason Jar

I’ve seen many of these bunnies on the web and thought I’d put one on this small mason jar filled with jelly beans. The mason jar is half-pint sized (8 oz.) and can be found in a four-pack at Walmart. Here are the measurements: Head – Circles, Scallop #2 Bigz Die; Ears – Scallop Oval and Small Oval Punches; Eyes -1/2″ Circle Punch; Nose – Small Heart Punch; Cheeks – 1″ Circle Punch; Mouth – 1/4″ Circle Punch; circle layered behind bunny – 3-1/2″ Circle Originals Die

Thank You Bookmark Card

Thank you card for my boss who has shown me great kindness. She loves to read and loves bright pink! 🙂 This card, when you open it up, has a small pocket that holds four bookmarks. Pictures of the inside of the card, as well as the four bookmarks, are shown below. I made a set of four bookmarks very similar to these several years ago so I guess you could say I “cased” myself. 🙂 I found the quotes by googling “reading quotes”. The quote panels were printed on vellum cardstock and attached with mini brads.
