I received some disheartening news over the weekend. I was pretty distressed until a friend of mine called this morning just to chat and I shared my news with her. She listened quietly while I went on for quite some time about it. At the end of my ramblings, she paused and said, “Would you like for me to pray with you about this right now?” So over the phone, my dear friend prayed a wonderful and uplifting prayer on my behalf. This card is for her. I had actually started this card before my phone call with her. It’s for this week’s Techniques Challenge over on Splitcoast. The technique is Reverse Masking. I made a mask out of copy paper (dimensions are 4-1/2″ x 2″ with a rectangle cut out of the center that measures 4″ x 1-1/2″). I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock the same size as the mask and placed the mask on top of the cardstock (I secured the mask with a little bit of Dotto Adhesive to secure it to the cardstock and prevent slippage). I then stamped the flowers in Black StazOn ink and watercolored them with an Aqua Painter & Reinkers. I used a Sponge Dauber to apply Bashful Blue ink to the background and then removed the mask. Voila! This technique creates a nicely “framed” image. To see the finer details of this card, please click on the photo. Thanks for stopping by!
